Quote of the week:
Quite by accident I happened upon the
March Through History Exposition at Prado Regional Park this
weekend. I took my niece and nephew to the park for a day outside
and came upon the campsite of all of the different eras of our
military history. Needless to say, the kids were thrilled and
excitedly asked to stop and check everything out. We stopped
by the tanks to take pictures and arrived just in time to catch
the WWII reenactment between the Germans and Americans. What
an exciting day we had as we stayed to watch the battle and
experience something that we would never have had the opportunity
to see before. I wasn’t aware that this kind of thing
even happened.
I wanted to let you know that we had a great time and look forward
to next years’ exposition.
Thank you so much,
Cheryl Gonzalez
Notice from the EDD Regarding Benefits for Veterans that are Victims of the Recent Fires.
Those that have been affected by the fires can most likely be entitled to UI benefits from EDD. The claims are DUA Claims (Disaster Unemployment Assistance). I worked with FEMA and other agencies at Norton during the GrandPrix fires of 2003. Those that don't qualify for regular UI claims (Unemployment Insurance) will qualify for DUA Federal claims. Those that are self employed can best be served by these DUA claims. It has not been formally announced but just giving you a heads up. The number to call is 1 800-300-5616 or check for information at www.edd.ca.gov. Benefits are usually retroactive.
